About Our Princeton Veterinary Practice

At Happy Tails Veterinary Clinic, we know your pet is part of the family, and we are honored to be part of their care. As a family-friendly veterinary practice serving Princeton, we focus on building real relationships with pet owners who want clear answers and thoughtful support. Our team is here to make veterinary services feel approachable, whether you are visiting for a wellness exam, a new concern, or guidance on long-term care. From puppies and kittens to senior companions, we welcome pets at every stage of life with encouragement and attention to their needs. If you’re looking for a veterinarian who will keep things simple and make the next step easy, contact our practice today!

Advanced Technology for Thoughtful Care

Our animal care center combines years of experience with modern technology that helps us learn more about your pet’s health in a timely and thoughtful way. Our in-house laboratory allows us to perform important diagnostic testing right here in our practice, which can help us move forward with care without unnecessary delays. When your companion is not feeling well, having access to on-site testing can provide helpful answers while keeping the process more convenient for your family.

We also offer laser therapy, a modern treatment option that can support healing and mobility for pets dealing with injury, inflammation, or ongoing discomfort. By bringing advanced tools into our veterinary practice, we can tailor veterinary services to your companion’s specific needs instead of taking a one-size-fits-all approach. It is one more way we work to give you practical support and dependable guidance when it matters most.

Compassionate Support for Every Pet

We know that visits to the veterinarian can feel emotional for both pets and the people who love them, which is why our team leads with kindness from the moment you walk through the door. Our unique approach to veterinary care affects everything from how we speak with you to how we treat your companion during each visit. We take time to listen to your concerns, answer questions in plain language, and help you understand what comes next.

Some pets need extra patience or a quieter approach, and we are happy to meet them where they are. Our goal is to create a welcoming experience that helps your pet be more comfortable while supporting you in feeling informed and supported. At our Princeton veterinary practice, compassionate care is woven into every part of the services we provide.

Care for Routine & Complex Needs

We’re proud to have general veterinarians and a surgeon on staff, giving your pet access to care for both everyday health needs and more advanced medical concerns. Routine services such as wellness exams and preventive care are an important part of helping your companion stay healthy over time. When a more complex issue arises, our team can guide you through the next steps with clear communication and a steady, thoughtful approach.

Having a surgeon on staff also allows our veterinary practice to support pets who need specialized procedures without losing the familiarity of the team that already knows them. This combination of broad experience and focused skills helps us care for a wide range of needs in one animal care center in Princeton. Whether your pet needs ongoing wellness support or treatment for a more serious condition, our veterinary services are designed to meet them with care and attention.

Dr. Deidre Crutchfield

Veterinarian

Personal Bio

My name is Dr. Deidre Crutchfield and I am a heartfelt pet owner and have been for as long as I have memories. My passion for pets has been the reason I devoted my career to Veterinary Medicine. I began my professional path in my teenage years working as a Veterinary Assistant in Princeton WV, and later in Charlotte, NC. Eventually, I applied for Veterinary College and was accepted to Colorado State University’s Veterinary medical program. There I excelled in small animal care and graduated in 2014 with my DVM. Since that time, I moved back to Princeton, WV where I serve many clients and their pets. Also, in my life I have a wonderful supportive family – a husband of over twenty years, a son and two daughters. I love spending time with them watching movies, playing board games, doing puzzles, and going to a nice spot outside when time and weather permit. If I get some alone time, I enjoy reading a good mystery novel.

As a general practice relief veterinarian, she focuses on preventative care and maintaining quality of life for as long as possible for pets and their owners. Sometimes this means addressing pain/mobility, skin, ear or gastrointestinal issues. Other times it is planning the best vaccination schedule or parasite control plan for a given family, or even helping out when it is time to say goodbye. At home in North Carolina and West Virginia Maia shares her life with her husband, 4 dogs, 2 cats, 2 goldfish, a frog, and farm animals including yaks, cows, horses and chickens. With what free time is left she enjoys reading, cooking, hiking and other outdoor activities.

Lindsey Anderson

Personal Bio

Hi there, my name is Lindsey Anderson! Born in North Carolina, I’ve spent most of my life in southern West Virginia and am very proud of my Appalachian roots. I’ve been with my Happy Tails family for roughly 3.5 years now and adore every minute of it. I graduated from Concord University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Pre-Professional) degree in 2020, while starting in this field two years prior. My intentions were to gain this degree to pursue a career as a veterinarian; however, as I stepped into the world of veterinary medicine, I became more fond of veterinary technician work! I’ve been working as a veterinary technician for roughly seven years now.

In recent years, I have become very interested in earning the title of RVT and continuing my education to give all pets (especially cats) exceptional care. When I’m not at work, my husband and I spend time with our three cats– Biscuit, Mozzy, and Toasty. My parents and I have been into cat rescue for years, so I also help out with care of their cats whenever I can. Yoga, crafting, videogames, and reading are some of my biggest hobbies!
